Because I like to categorize things, I decided to categorize what kind of Fire Emblem hacks exist in the FE Hacking Community. You can see it here.
If you are having problems seeing it, try saving it onto your computer. Feel free to help me construct this if you like. This post has been edited by MarkyJoe1990: Jul 28 2010, 10:32 PM |

Needs links.
Also that list is very short. I don't see anything strange otherwise; maybe this will motivate people to get their hacks reclassed. I just realized what a terrible pun that was. Actually, I just thought of another extremely important category: Utility hacks. Pretty much any hack I post is a utility hack; its only purpose is to make other hacking easier. |

Glad to see you're on board with this. I'll provide links shortly. EDIT: Added links to most of the hacks. Still working on finding all of them. Apathetic is a better term.

Anything else I need? Was the utility hack description not accurate? Any other hack types I could list?

I should have been more clear. Norton says that there is a phishing problem with your website.

Being that I am unsure of what you are talking about I can't answer that question.

Being that I am unsure of what you are talking about I can't answer that question. I edited my first post. Now there are two links. One leads to the page, while the other one leads to the download OF the page. The downloadable page is what I'm referring to. |

Norton is retarded. Seriously.
Also, should I assume you're just looking for examples, and not actually posting all complete (or very far in progress) hacks? In any case, the list looks pretty cool, albeit I find the names 'Chocolate' and 'Vanilla' to be random (if for no other reason than "I don't understand why you chose them"). |

Hacks don't need to be complete to be listed. Also, Chocolate and Vanilla are terms used in other hacking communities such as Super Mario World Central. Essentially, Vanilla ROM hacks don't change graphics or use ASM hacking. They simply change level design. For a hack to be considered chocolate, it needs to at least either change graphics or use ASM hacking along with changing level design. I figured since other ROM hacking communities use those terms, so should I. |

I'm pretty sure you used the word 'albeit' improperly there, Blazer. Awkwardly, at the very least.

^^ Well, SMW terminologies could involve chocolate and vanilla indeed, since again they have lands with such names in the SMW series, if memory doesn't fail me. XD
Also, it will be interesting if we use those terms like they do, since usually among us ASM hacking is (Unfortunately) rare, hacks which use ASM are either using one of the easy-to-use patches Nintenlord, Xeld or Rey made, or something pretty epic and secret. Even the biggest hacks around don't have much ASM that isn't public. (And we don't have to re-Assemble the codes we get like they do in many cases, we just use IPS patches after all.) For us, some graphical changes(Mugs) are highly common, while some deeper changes(Such as custom sprites and tilesets) are very rare, rarer than in SMW-hacking equivalents. Since in SMW hacks it is easier to find graphics to change after all. And in average, FE games are harder to change than the SMW equivalents, one needs to digest concepts like compression for example, before venturing in our hacking world. But this list is a good idea nonetheless, I like it very much, the idea of a more formal classification, specially one as free as that one. Can't wait to see more tasty chocolates to pop around here, too. :3 This post has been edited by Ryrumeli: Jul 28 2010, 03:53 PM |

Finally got around to checking this out, I think it's a good idea. Adding to Ryru's comments I have a couple of my own.
However, I think it's silly to give your hack "Tactician Hell" it's own category (you even go so far as to have the hack and category share names). Your hack could easily go under Challenge hacks, being the extreme challenge. Pizzas of Doom is the only other example you came up for the "Tactician Hell" category, this could also be classified as a challenge hack. I really don't see a reason for this category, they're just extremely challenging challenge hacks. I'm also curious where small ASM hacks that add features would be categorized; things like Nintenlord's Canto Patch. I would personally call them Utilities, however that would require expanding your definition. I think bug-fixing patches (like Pukachi's BGM Kill fixer) would also count as Utility Hacks. |

They all count as utility hacks.
And there's other patches that FEditor applies. Those are all utility hacks too. |
