Because not everybody has it or feels like getting it and lots of people complain that they can't unzip it and it's a complete pain in the butt to have to upload different versions with RAR/ZIP or force them into not being lazy and downloading 7zip...?
Run-on sentence ftw. |

If someone doesn't want to do something good for their self that will help them do something good for their self then they don't deserve to benefit at all.
Flawless logic for the win. |

God, it's been ages since I've used Nightmare. And since my old FESS account is dead and rego is disabled, this is probably the only place to find the program and modules.
Thank you so much, guys. Edit - The link for Nightmare is down... D: This post has been edited by Midnight Assassin: Oct 19 2009, 06:08 AM |

Yeeeeah, but I'm not too fond of it.
But anyways, I PMed Cater-Pies, as he's the most recent poster in this forum that I've seen talk about Nightmare, and asked for a copy of the original Nightmare. He was nice enough to gimme a copy. Now all we need is a Linux version. I REFUSE TO BOOT IN WINDOWS JUST FOR NIGHTMARE. |

What's not to be fond of? It does everything the original does and more.

It's interface is a bit different.
I've always preferred the menu based format to button based like 2.0. (To me, it also seems less user-friendly) It really depends on opinion though. |

What's not to be fond of? Well, I'm not the kind of guy to like non-GUI programs

Non-GUI? What? None of this makes any sense.
The button thing is just for the main GUI, which you won't be using much anyway. I personally think it's easier because buttons are bigger and therefore easier to click and read. If it were just a menu then it'd look silly, like FEditor used to when the main GUI's central frame was just a place for some radio buttons to go. The real issues with Nightmare 2.0 are - That combo box glitch where selecting something picks the first occurrence of that thing with the same name instead of the one you actually selected, which can be circumvented and might even be fixed in the future - The window flickering when it is redrawn for the next module when you select a different one, which doesn't slow you down any more than if it didn't do that - The program doesn't run slow, but it seems to use more RAM than it should, making your computer sound like it's struggling. That's probably just a memory allocation thing. Nightmare 2.0 allocates 256 megabytes of RAM by default when it usually doesn't need to. This is easily changed by modifying the batch file that starts the application. All very negligible, especially in the face of all of the improvements over the original. But since everyone insists on using something more primitive, it's not wonder I don't bother to fix any of those issues. |

But I do use it,
It just a little difficult, when you use 1 format for several years, and then use a different program that works just a little differently. Anyway, it's starting to get a little off topic. |

Indeed, change is difficult, but you may be missing something important or helpful if you do not try out other things or attempt to change for the better.

I had a question about HxD: Is there a translation patch? I can't read a single command in it. (All characters are displayed as ?s)

^There is no "fix" for that. It's just non-existent. There's very little chance that somebody will make it. Sorry. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Actually it does exist. You just need to find it.
Serenes forest is a good place to search. At least, that's where I found it. |

I'm actually not sure if I should post this here, but the FE6 and FE8 NM modules there are giving me a 404.
Just a heads up. |
