Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones was the third GBA title, due to the success of Blazing Sword it also enjoyed a state-side release. The Sacred Stones is considered by series veterans as the spiritual sucessor to Fire Emblem: Gaiden, beinging back a number of it's features such as monsters, the ability to freely traverse the world map and trainees. It also featured a skills system, although not as large as the SNES games. This game also introduced the branched promotions feature where a person could choose between 2 promotion options for a unit.

Story
The continent of Magvel was once inhabited by monsters, lead by the Demon King they enslaved the human race. Finally, 5 heroes rose up and defeated the demon king and banished him and his monstrous minions along with him. They established 5 Kingdoms where their people could live in peace. It has been around 800 years since those events and the pillars of peace that have held up Magvel have begun to crumble.
