Due to the curiosity of western players about Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword (known as simply "Fire Emblem") was released world-wide. Being a Gameboy Advance game it uses GBAFE style and has little gameplay improvements over it's predesessor. However it did introduce depth into chapters with different missions per chapter and weather effects. It also introduced the tactician, a story unit which represented the player. It also introduced multiple stories, having a grand total of 3.

Story
A mere month ago the Lorca Tribe of Sacae was slaughtered by bandits. The only survivor is a girl named Lyn. One day a tactician collapses on the plains, only to be saved by Lyn. Lyn and the tactician will travel far and together they will discover the secrets of Lyn's past. Joined by Lord Eliwood of Pherae and Hector of Ostia they will travel far and face an evil that threatens to destroy human life.
